Dr. Sonia Tao-Yi, DDS - Practice Owner
Dr. Sonia Tao-Yi has been practicing dentistry since 1999. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley, followed by dental school at the University of Detroit Mercy, for which she received an Air Force scholarship. Following dental school, she completed a yearlong Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Langley AFB. Dr. Tao retired from The United States Air Force Reserves in 2023.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Tao enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Steve, and their three children. They are members of Coastal Church in Yorktown.
Dr. Brooke Hasenfelt, DDS - Associate Dentist
Dr. Brooke Hasenfelt earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in 2006, then went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Howard University College of Dentistry. She completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency through East Carolina University, providing care at a remote clinic in Ahoskie, North Carolina.
With a strong passion for serving underserved communities, Dr. Hasenfelt spent ten years on staff treating patients at the Lackey Free Clinic.
Outside of dentistry, she enjoys life with her husband and three children. She loves coaching her daughter’s gymnastics class, spending time outdoors, working out, and being part of Coastal Church.
Hygienist- Carolyn
Carolyn was born and raised on the Virginia Peninsula, her family’s deep roots in the area allowed her to stay local. Prior to becoming a Dental Hygienist, Carolyn was a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for 10 years, working with individuals with disabilities. Through this, she became interested in dental hygiene and has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 20 years.
She has always loved the healthcare field and City Center Dental allows her the opportunity to care for and pray over others and their needs. Her faith and family drive her to follow her passions.
Hygienist- Rachel Wright
Rachel was born and raised in the Hampton Roads area and currently resides here with her husband and two daughters. She attended Old Dominion University’s School of Dental Hygiene and has been working in dental hygiene for over 10 years now.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, practicing photography and spending time outdoors. She loves working at City Center Dental because it allows her to help patients focus on their care and improve their health; connecting with patients is her favorite part of the job.
Hygienist- Erin Comerford
Erin graduated from Old Dominion University in 2017 with a bachelor’s of science in dental hygiene and a minor in psychology. Erin has worked with City Center Dental Care for 6 years and loves to build personal connections with her patients all while educating them on the importance of oral health. When she is not working, Erin enjoys spending quality time with her husband and son.
Hygienist- Macy Heath
Meet Macy Heath, a dedicated dental hygienist based in Williamsburg, VA. She earned her undergraduate degree in Studio Art with a minor in Art History from Christopher Newport University before completing dental hygiene school at Virginia Western Community College. Macy’s passion for both art and healthcare gives her a unique, gentle approach to patient care.
She spent 3.5 years living in Germany, where she practiced dental hygiene and embraced her love for international travel. Outside of the office, Macy enjoys exploring new places and cherishing quality time with her family.
Hygienist- Suzanne Barbour
Suzanne, a native of Tennessee, graduated from ETSU as a registered dental hygienist, a calling she has enjoyed for over forty five years. She has been in the Hampton Roads area since 1999, and has worked at City Center Dental Care for over fifteen years. She enjoys helping patients achieve optimal dental health.
Outside the office, she enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her children and three grandbabies, and working on her latest knitting project!
